You must call, Mark doesn’t do computers ! We also hold a Track Day on the Fri. of Labor Day weekend at PIR every year.

Remember, you get a lot more track time with Club Lotus than with most others and there are not as many cars on track with you, so you can get plenty of sessions in.

Our plan is to meet at 10am on Saturday morning, May 12, 2012, in the large parking lot across from MacTarnahan’s Brewing in Northwest Portland (2730 NW 31st Ave). At 10:30 we will head westwards towards Tillamook and then on to Brighton beach for a gathering and photo shoot. We will then have lunch before visiting the Tillamook Air Museum, followed by our journey home.

update: We will head westwards on hwy 26 to 6 to 101 for a pleasant drive of about 95 miles. Our destination is Kelly’s Brighton Marina. The parking lot is gravel, so you’ll need to pull in slowly. They sell live crab, so you may want to do a little shopping. Our lunch site is still uncertain, so if you know of a good place in Rockaway or Garibaldi or Tillamook, let me know. We will then proceed on to the Air Museum. At this time I do not know if we will have 2 cars or 200, so you are also encouraged to send an email to jarjuura@yahoo.com so that we may know how many cars to expect and so that we can provide you with the latest information directly.

In order to not lose too much money on the event our choice this year was to raise the admission price for the event or to allow more people to register.  After much debate, Club Lotus Northwest has chosen neither of these paths and decided to cancel the event.   This was a difficult decision for the club and we apologize for canceling at this late date.

We plan to hold our Track-day in the fall.  Please watch this space for an announcement.

The movie from Classic Team Lotus will be: LOTUS GOES TURBO

This excellent archive film charts the move to turbo power by the JPS Lotus Formula One team. Starting from the announcement in 1982, exceptional behind-the-scenes footage takes you through the full development of the chassis which would carry Renault’s hugely powerful turbo engine in the 1983 season. With unprecedented access to the Lotus headquarters in Norfolk, you follow the process from design and model building to racetrack as Elio de Angelis and Nigel Mansell give the new car its first test. The period also saw the tragic loss of the legendary Colin Chapman, and the film shows how his team overcame his death and continued developing the car which would create a new era in Team Lotus history. The movie also includes, Anatomie d’Un Depart, an extraordinary short film showing the build up to a Grand Prix start, including rare footage of drivers like Ayrton Senna and many others preparing to race.

There will also be a second movie produced by Ford and provided by Jim McVein which includes Jim Clark driving a Lotus Cortina and an early 60′s Sebring race.

Pizza will be provided by Lotus Of Portland (THANKS STEVE !!!). You need to bring your own beverages (adult are OK). Also if you have a folding chair, bring that along as seating can be limited.

This should be a great warm up to the 2011 F1 season that starts in March, featuring four Lotus cars with Renault engines.
